Cale Makar Becomes Faster Defenceman In NHL History To Reach 250 Career Points
Cale Makar was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche 4th overall in the 2017 National Hockey League entry draft. On April 13th, 2019 Cale Makar received the Hobby Baker Award given to the best Coligent player.
A day later he played in the NCAA tournament. As soon as his team lost and was out of the tournament he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Colorado Avalanche. Days after that Cale makes his NHL debut in game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the Avalanche against the Calgary Flames. In his debut game as a defenceman, he proceeded to score his first-ever NHL goal in his first-ever period of NHL Hockey. (seen below)
This turned out to be quite the foreshadowing to his career as last night on October 17th, 2023 Cale Makar became the fastest defenceman in NHL history to score 250 points. He beat Hall of Famer and legend of the game Bobby Orr by 6 games. He plays an incredible two-way game and this NHL record, One of many he has already set in his young career places him among the elite of the elite to ever play this game.

Cale Makar in his short career has already picked up quite an extensive list of hardware and accolades. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy in the 2019-2020 season. He won the James Norris Memorial Trophy, The Conn Smythe Trophy, and the Stanley Cup Championship in the 2012-2022 season.
