Can The Avalanche Make History With Their 16th Straight Road Win? (Updated)

UPDATE: This article was partially incorrect as the game on the evening of the 22nd was not on the road but it was actually a home game for the Colorado Avalanche. I apologize for the mistake on the article and I have already reached out to thank the person who pointed it out to me as well. I will make sure that these kinds of mistakes do not make it to the published site in the future for anyone on our team. Thank you again for your time and I appreciate you taking a look at our site.

Here is a possible article previewing the Colorado Avalanche’s upcoming game tonight:

The Colorado Avalanche will look to make history when they face the Carolina Hurricanes at Ball Arena on Saturday. The Avalanche (4-0-0) have won 15 consecutive regular-season road games dating to last season, one shy of the NHL record set by the Buffalo Sabres in 2006.

The Avalanche are coming off a 4-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. Logan O’Connor continued his short-handed goal streak getting a short-handed goal in consecutive games. Can he make it 3 in a row tonight? Ryan Johansen also got his first goal for his new team. A nice power play goal where he batted the puck out of mid-air and into the back of the net. Devon Toews and Nathan MacKinnon rounded out the scoring in the second and third periods for the Avalanche.

The Hurricanes (3-2-0) are also off to a solid start, having defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 on Thursday. Andrei Svechnikov scored twice, including the game-winner with 26 seconds left in regulation, and Sebastian Aho and Vincent Trocheck also scored for Carolina. Frederik Andersen made 24 saves for his third win in as many starts.

The Hurricanes have been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference in recent years, reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the past three seasons. They have a balanced offense, led by Aho, Svechnikov, and Trocheck, and a solid defense, anchored by Jaccob Slavin and Brett Pesce. They also added veteran defenseman Tony DeAngelo and forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi in the offseason to bolster their depth.

The Avalanche and the Hurricanes split their two-game series last season, with each team winning on the road. The Avalanche won 3-2 in overtime at PNC Arena on Feb. 19, and the Hurricanes won 4-2 at Ball Arena on March 11. The Avalanche have a slight edge in the all-time series, with a record of 22-18-5 against the Hurricanes.

The game will be broadcast on NHLPP and ESPN+1, and will start at 6:00 PM MT. It will be a clash of two of the best teams in the NHL and a chance for the Avalanche to set the NHL record for most consecutive road wins. The Avalanche have continuously been improving their play on the road the last few seasons and it appears now as if they are one of the best away from home in the NHL. How long will this record stretch? Can they set the record and take sole position of first place tonight, or will the Hurricanes stop them one game shy? Tune in tonight to find out!

The Avs play Carolina at Ball Arena in Denver. It’s not a road game, so they cannot set the record for most regular season consecutive road-games won in a row, tonight. However, the Avalanche can on Tuesday at UBS Arena versus the Islanders.
