Seattle Kraken Struggle with Sleepy Start to the Season

With the Seattle Kraken only three games into their young season, many in The Deep are in disbelief as the team has managed to acquire only one of a possible six points. Though the team has faced the reigning Stanley Cup champions, their other two opponents have been St. Louis & Nashville – both teams that didn’t make the playoffs.

Many might be thinking that the Kraken’s goaltending could be to blame for their three consecutive losses. Of course with how the last few seasons have started, it’s reasonable to come to that conclusion. Grubauer has been leaky and their backups haven’t really been stellar. Phillipp Grubauer has started with a respectable 2.55 GAA and .918 SV % and Joey Daccord performed remarkably in his only game – 0.92 GAA & .960 SV %. The problem is coming from the team’s inability to get the puck in the net.

The Kraken have been outscored 9 – 2 across those three games as their only goals have come from Jared McCann and Jaden Schwartz. The expectations for them are huge. With how they performed last season, fans are hoping for another playoff berth. Yes, it’s very young in the season. It’s too early to worry. But, the Kraken’s schedule isn’t going to get any easier. All but one of their next 7 games come against teams that made the playoffs last season.

Their upcoming opponents have stellar goaltending. And the struggles the team has faced to score goals may continue well into the beginning of next month. Will the Seattle Kraken rebound against their upcoming formidable opponents? All-in-all, it’s still too early to worry, Deep! Let’s see how the team is performing come American Thanksgiving.
